Offering you a safe space to explore, heal and grow

My Practice

My therapeutic approach is Person-Centred. Hearing how things are from your point of view helps me to understand what hurts and what truly matters to you. Counselling can be a deep and emotional journey. I hope that you will feel safe. supported, and able to speak freely, giving you space to explore important areas in a meaningful way.

Background

I am an experienced counsellor, supervisor and Focusing trainer with 25 years of therapeutic experience. Previously I worked in a careers office and taught at a nursery school where I was the Special Educational Needs Coordinator. I have 4 adult children.

In addition to working in private practice, I have provided counselling and supervision for various organisations including:

  • Primary school, youth-centre and adult education college
  • Drugs and alcohol and gambling treatment organisations
  • Mental health
  • Cancer care

I greatly value my many experiences of working with people who have various backgrounds, identities, cultures and beliefs.

Professional Qualifications

I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor and Supervisor for individuals and groups, with qualifications in couples counselling and group facilitation.

Some years ago, a friend introduced me to Focusing, a practice which increases self-awareness and self-acceptance. I was eager to learn more and trained as a Registered Focusing Practitioner and later Focusing Mentor, with the British Focusing Association.

Neurodiversity

Initially I developed an interest in neurodiversity through my own life experience of dyspraxia. Over time I have increased my understandings of neurodiversity in its various forms and my awareness of how people can experience being neurodivergent in a largely neurotypical society.

I have completed an online diploma in Autism and 150 hours training in ADHD awareness. I attend relevant workshops and read widely in the area.

I offer clients, supervisees and Focusers a neurodiversity affirming space.
